Introduction

The Interact Club of St. Joseph's School, Kuching was officially formed on the 8th of July, 1969. The office bearers were installed by Rotarian Dr. Wong Mook Foo. Rev. Bro. Albinus (then the Principal) was the patron of the club and Mr. S.V. Matthai was the teacher advisor. The club has 15 members, comprising students of Form 4 and higher classes. The club's main objective was community service with special efforts focused on the Chesire Home.

The office bearers for the 2nd Interact year, 1970-71 were installed on the 31st June, 1970. That same year Rev. Bro. Columba took over as Principal of the school. He was the teacher advisor until 1986 when Miss Clare Lee took over from him. Rev. Bro. Columba was the patron of the club until his retirement in 1988. His successor, Mr. Gerald Lee has been the patron of the club since 1988 until today.

Over the years the Interactors of St. Joseph's School, Kuching has contributed in many ways towards community service in the district. Their community projects among other things include participation in Open Day Sales for the various welfare homes, namely the Cheshire Home, the Blind Centre and the Salvation Army Homes. Recently we have adopted the Deaf Centre and the interactors visit the centre once a fortnight.

To promote international understanding, the interactors has been corresponding with other interactors abroad. In its early years, the Interact annual bulletin was published and sent to overseas Interact Club to foster better international understanding.
